About The AI Detector
The AI Detector is a free, independent suite of AI-writing and text tools — an AI content detector alongside a humanizer, paraphraser, grammar checker, summarizer, and other writing utilities. Every tool is open to use without an account.
The detector is built on a RoBERTa-based text classifier trained to recognize the statistical patterns that distinguish AI-generated text from human writing. It returns an overall probability score plus a sentence-by-sentence breakdown, so you can see which parts of a passage look machine-generated rather than just a single number.
Honesty about what AI detection can and cannot do
No AI detector — ours included — is 100% accurate. AI detection is probabilistic: it estimates likelihood, it does not prove authorship. Results can be wrong in both directions. Genuinely human text is sometimes flagged as AI (a false positive), and edited or paraphrased AI text often passes as human (a false negative). Short passages are especially unreliable.
For that reason, treat our scores as a signal to inform your own judgment, not as evidence. We do not recommend using an AI-detection result on its own to make high-stakes decisions such as academic penalties or hiring outcomes. For the full picture of how the score is produced and where it breaks down, see our methodology page.
